Jari Vallius

I joined Raute in 1990 after graduating from Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences. For over 30 years, I have worked at Raute in automation, services, and maintenance positions. Singapore, Germany and Poland used to be my home base. Today, as a site service specialist from the maintenance team, Finland and Japan are my main work sites. I am involved in various automation and maintenance projects, mainly supporting our technical teams, getting immediate feedback from customers and providing the right solutions. 

I enjoy working with different people in a dynamic work environment. This is a big reason why I love working at Raute, as it always gives me different opportunities and keeps me constantly energized and passionate. I know myself pretty well that I prefer to work in diverse fields rather than stay in the same place for a long time. I'm always up for the next challenge.

My secret to communicating with people from different cultures is not limiting myself to the Finnish way of thinking but keeping an open mind. It is common to meet a demanding but accurate customer. Therefore, learning to put yourself in their shoes before making any decisions is always helpful.

Thanks to our high-tech developing equipment and always active maintenance service, we have achieved impressive results and customer feedback, even under the influence of COVID-19. There is no denying that COVID-19 has influenced a bit our onsite maintenance work. However, we have always provided our customers with prompt services and the most effective solutions based on remote work. 

It is a fact that our equipment develops very quick, which means you will always have something new to learn. Therefore, our new employees don't need to worry about not having long-term experience in Raute - after all, every Raute person is learning. So, I think that's also what makes working at Raute so fascinating.
